The Challenge

The blending category recently enjoyed explosive growth. New competitors at the high end and low end brought creative solutions and marketing campaigns that out-performed stable, well-known veteran brands in the category, stealing market share and shifting consumer loyalty, proving that disruption always wins.

The Strategy

Create the next disruption in the blending category. Knowing the consumer and their usage behavior in the category, it was clear that many products driving category growth really weren’t solving the consumers’ frustrations and pain points in creating delicious healthy smoothies and frozen drinks – the shopping, the peeling, the measuring, the chopping. The Freo – Smoothie in a Minute – eliminated those hassles and made it as easy as making a cup of coffee. That’s right, an all natural fruit, vegetable and juice purée packed in a single serving pod that is automatically blended with shaved ice for the perfect smoothie in just 60 seconds. A durable product paired with a renewable source of profit in the consumable pod. A perfect, disruptive match.
